Tight Jeans by Destiny Ekharaga
Tight jeans is a social realist short comedy, focused on three men waiting for a friend on a wall outside his apartment. In this time of waiting there is nothing to do but talk and through people watching, the men share a comedic conversation about their african history. The cinematography at the beginning of the film allows lots of scene setting and the jump cuts differ from the longer ongoing shots of the conversation. When the point of conversation is established, of the tight jeans, a simple close up is used This is followed by a fairly long tracking shot of the same view as the man with the tight jeans walks along, it is because of this that the audience knows these jeans have caught the mens attention and a quick cut to a close up of the mens expression and following eyes establishes their interest: the performance of the three men is important in this short film as there is not an array of angles the camera can use to create any subtext.
