Media Blogpost - Film Viewing

• Where do you watch films?
Cinema or at home; on Virgin Movies or Netflix e.g. East Dulwich Picture House
• What devices do you use to watch films? How does this change the viewing experience?
My laptop or television. Laptop is smaller which makes the watching less intense but quality is usually good which makes a good difference. Usually, the bigger the screen is, the better it is to watch the film
• Are there certain films you prefer to see at the cinema? If so which?
Not really a particular genre of film. I mostly go to watch the big, popular, well-rated ones
• With whom do you watch films?
Friends and family. Usually go to cinema with parents and siblings and if I am at home I mostly watch them alone or with my family sometimes.
• What attracted you to the film? Why did they choose to see it? (The social aspect of watching a film is important as it can affect your attitude towards it. Have you been ‘pressured’ into seeing a film you weren’t interested in by a friend etc?). Is it a hotly anticipated film (i.e. Star Wars Episode VIII) or one that only serves a niche audience?
The ratings of a film and feedback from people I know is a main attraction point; also the way it has been advertised/ if i have seen the trailer and i enjoyed it; for example; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I enjoy going to a cinema to watch  film because of the atmosphere and the idea that it is something worth doing with my time. I don't ever feel pressured to watch a film; although once my friends really wanted to go see Thor and I wasn't that interested in it, but I actually quite enjoyed it and feel like it's good to see a film anyway even if you're not interested. I also like watching more unknown arthouse films purely out of interest.
• How did you respond to the film? Was it a spectacle, moving, frightening etc.?
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri: An emotional rollercoaster! Really enjoyed it and thought it had a very interesting storyline. Although, after watching it twice I feel the story line, put simply, doesn't have any major depth to it but the directing/acting/screenplay creates a much more intense and deeper side to the film. It was very moving and the visuals were very good! I watched it because I had seen the trailer and my parents also booked tickets and I wanted to go to the cinema as I hadn't been in a while.
• Following our trips to the Ritzy and the IMAX. Discuss the recent changes to digital projection.
Quality of the films and the screens has most likely increased.
